Hobnailed Bootery
The group made it way to the next business on the list, the air starting to get thick and noisome. As they turned down Rotwater Way, their noses got assaulted by the stench of the tanneries and other business near the river that used large quantities of water for their operations.
As they looked for the place, one of the group spotted a sign with a heavy hobnailed boot and below it in worn letters "Hobnailed Bootery" in common. The awnings were open to allow breeze into the establishment that was full of tools and other items for making footwear. Inside, a older gnome was busy working on a boot while a younger one, with fabric stuffed in his nose, was busy cutting leather straps.
"Good day, we are here on behalf of the Nightwatchmen's Guild." the leader of the group said, showing the gnome their letter of introduction. "Sergeant Erkennis has asked us to collect the Pelor's Day gifts for the children." they said. The gnome looked over the letter and nodded. "I am Gea, Gea the Cobbler, proprietor of the Hobnailed Bootery. he said "Yes, yes, the leather workers guild was wanting us to provide gifts, although I do not know why they didn't just have us send them to the guild hall rather than you tromping all over the city." he grumbled.
"Geskar, under my bed is a sack with the sandals, get them." he said. The apprentice stopped what he was doing, making sure to not drop his work, coming back a few moments later with a small blue cloth sack and offered them to Gea. Opening the sack, the proprietor looked over his work one final time to ensure its quality before returning it to the sack. "Here you go, hope they do the trick." he said as another thought came to mind. "Oh, can you sign this receipt for them, need it for the guild." he added, reaching over to a desk and pulled out a form with the Greyhawk Leatherworkers Guild device embossed on it.
