Caedmon's Candle Shop
This store is simple but elegant. The front door is framed by display windows revealing a variety of candles in all shapes and sizes: tapers, floaters, pillars, votives, and more. The interior floor is covered by a number of well-placed wooden tables, and the walls are lined with bookcases and sconces. Candles fill each of these spaces.
There is a sales counter along the back wall, with an assortment of non-candle products on display behind it, including soap, bath oil, cooking oil, and lamp oil.
There is an elderly man behind the counter who is well-dressed, tall and thin, with unusually long fine white hair, and elegant, almost “elven” facial features. His background is somewhat mysterious, as he has no known family and no one seems to recall how he came to be in Narwell. His shop has been here as long as anyone can remember.
Caedmon sources the finest animal fat (beef, sheep, and whale), as well as beeswax, to produce a wide range of candles for every sort of use, from homes to businesses to places of worship.
A set of 10 plain tallow candles sells for a silver piece, whereas a single beeswax votive with a square-braid salt-wick sells for a gold piece.
