Bring Yer Things

Finally nearing the end of the list on Peppercorn Way, and Taya's last turn, the group reached a warehouse named, Bring Yer Things. At first, she thought it was some sort of business storing its wares, but it turned out to be a place where customers could pay to store their belongings.

The building was large, bigger than every other place they visited earlier, combined. Well, not including other warehouses. It was brick and wood, with open bay doors along the front. To the right, was a small wood office building. Taya went there first.

"I'm here from Sergeant Erkennis and the Nightwatch. Do you have anything for the Pelor celebration?" Taya's voice was flat and without emotion. She was more weary than she thought.

There was a woman sitting behind a desk. She had been writing something on a parchment. She set down her pen and looked at Taya.

"Do you have authentication?"

Without a word, Taya went back outside, got the Erkennis letter, returned to the office, showing it to the woman.

Seeming to be satisfied, the woman reached to the floor and placed a sack onto her desk. "One can't be too careful."

"Thank you," said Taya, reaching for it.

"Don't you want to know what's inside?"

"Not particularly," said Taya.

The woman sniffed. "Rattles, noise-makers, and other toys for toddlers. Things I'm sure they'll enjoy."

"I'm sure they will." Taya made a point to bow respectfully. "Thank you."
