History:
How they arrived on the planet is unconfirmed.

We know that the pangolins had large colonies, both on land and deep under the ground. Their focused on magical development allowed them to enter a magical golden age. How long this Golden age lasted is unknown, but one facture that contributed to its end was the appearance of the giants, and later the dragons.

With the giants, dominating in raw strength, and dragons able to fly, the pangolins feared what would become of them. Both races would target them as a meal if given the opportunity. For a while their magic managed to minimize pangolin deaths. When the war started the pangolins knew that if they couldn’t increase their power, both magically and physically then they wouldn’t be able to survive.

The colony’s mages, and every other magic users gathered together in an underground chamber, to perform a ritual to increase there power. The ritual they created required a sacrifice, the power of given would be the power added to the pangolins. They stole a dragon egg, and magically insnared a young giant. When both were sacrificed, the power of dragons and giants was drawn out, then flowed into the pangolins. The physical power that the pangolins received was more then there bodies could handle, and the magical nature of the dragons was more than the pangolin’s spirts could handle.

The result was that many of the pangolins bodies were incinerated, while many others had their minds broken. The golden age of the pangolins was broken, and in time they would flee underground to seek safety from the overland threats. Though the ritual failed it left a seed of power in the few survivors, in future generations there would be a potential chance for a gifted pangolin of greater strength, or magic.

Pangolins are known to have hidden in the Labyrinth, allowing them to avoid the greater threats of the surface world. The plagues of the undead have managed to keep the pangolins from having an opportunity to redevelop there magical potential, or create new colonies.

There are signs that there are other pangolins in underground hideouts, thought the small groups are in danger of going extinction.

Current History ideas:

The above ground settlements either had to fight off Dragons and Giants, or they were enslaved by the Giants and maybe the Dragons as well, as workers and food. When the war started a lot of the Pangolins fled when their masters were either killed or went off to war.

The Pangolin people were scared of getting caught up in the dragon's and giants war. So they attempted to make a ritual that would grant some of them enough power to be stronger than both! Alas, the ritual did not go as planned, the pangolins had generated too much power for themselves and they were vaporized as the massive amount of power tried to spark within them. Wiping out all of their great mages

Current Magic ideas:
1. Pangolins all share the same connection to magic.
  a. The fewer pangolins there are, the more powerful they are.
  b. The more pangolins you have the stronger each is magically.
2. More pangolins increase their magic as a whole.
3. The more in one place the stronger their magic is, and they enhance the base magic of the world since they were not created of the world. So, the more Pangolins on the world the higher the magic levels over the base normal levels.
4. Knowing more words of power grant higher magic. (pangolins names are words of power)
5. Pangolins have magic scales
  a. Maybe using magic consumes a scale in every casting
  b. While alive, the magic flows. Once dead, they are consumable materials.

23:17, Today: Croneture rolled 7 using 2d6+2 with rolls of 4,1.  Bless: All pangolin gain the ability to communicate through mental telepathy.
(NOTE: Yatra hereby donates a Token to kick Croneture's blessing of the Pangolins up to Full Success.
Pangolins can now send their thoughts up to a mile (on a clear, dry day-- somewhat less in high humidity) to other intelligent beings. They can't hear the thoughts of others, though (except of course other Pangolins who are making the effort to send them), and they can't do mind-control nor anything like that.)

07:38, Wed 25 Dec: Ea-Doragh Mahdra rolled 8 using 2d6 with rolls of 2,6.  Bless Pangolins with Names of Power
 - There, in each one, she planted a seed. This seed was a word, a name, unique to each one. It sprouted and intertwined into the ability. It was rooted in trust. Where trust existed, it bolstered the telepathy. Where trust was betrayed, it withered and killed the power. Sharing the name with loved ones fed it; it falling into the hands of those not trusted withered it. She smiled at the little bud as it grew in this creature. She saw its trust and new bond with the woman nurturing the new power. Did the pangolin know not to share the name? Did any of them? No. They'd need to learn.
