Matador Cantina
The Matador Cantina is a largish business kept well maintained and marked with a large and flamboyant sign depicting a classic matador with a confronting and dangerous looking bull, while carrying a cape draped over one arm and a large stein of beer in the other. The cantina does a surprisingly good business in such a small gathering of people. Reginald "Reggie" Donald largely caters to hands from the local ranches, miners and prospectors as well as the steady and varied traffic headed north or south. All of these groups add up to enough to keep Reggie, his wife Maggie, two grown and married daughters and a couple of other part timers busy. Reggie bought the place about 25 years ago and has maintained much of the original decor and atmosphere.
Maggie is a full blooded Native American and she or her daughters have to deal with occasional harassment from newcomers. The regular patrons and hands from the local ranches are quick to defend the women if Reggie isn't already there with a large club in his hand and a six shooter holstered at his hip. Usually though a sharp word from Reggie or a regular is enough to defuse problems before they escalate. Maggie can often be found singing and playing guitar. Late in the evening with a good crowd she can often be persuaded to share tales she learned from her tribe.
Gambling is allowed but Reggie will take a .25C table fee to play.
