Suzdal

The city of Suzdal is the first city in Rus visited by the Yankees.  It is a typical Rus city, most of the buildings built from logs, carved and painted in the Rus tradition.  The city is surrounded by a wooden wall with several gates and features a large square fronted on one side by the cathedral and Ivor's palace opposite.  The population is probably more than 50,000 people in the city and that many again in farms and villages throughout the surrounding countryside.

The Ford is 20 miles north of Suzdal along River Road, second ford 30 miles upriver.  River Road pass 7 miles north of Suzdal
