Patriarch Rasnar - Archprelate of Rus (Killed by Ivor at the end of the Peasant Rebellion)
As arch-prelate, Rasnar led the church in all of Rus, not just in Suzdal.  Each city has a prelate.

Casmar - A young priest who inherited the mantle of Archpelate after Rasnar was killed and the people of Suzdal rebelled against their boyar rulers.  Symapthetic to the Yankees, he was responsible for the Yankees intervening in the rebellion against the boyars after Casmar warned them of Ivor's intention to betray the Yankees to the Tugar.

The Primary Chronicles:  This is the history of the Rus people on Valdennia, telling of their arrival here in the river of light.  The Yankees are said to have the weapons of 'Dabog the evil one'.

The Peasants
Kalencka - Former Servant to Ivor, translator between Yankees and Ivor and leader of the peasant rebellion.
Wife and daughter, Tanya is married to Vincent Hawthorne.


The Tugars
More than 100,000 strong.  10' tall humanoids covered in hair that travel the world on an endless ride.  The Tugars rule over the humans and take 1 in 10 at each city they visit as slaves or food.  The horse mounted Tugars appear to have a culture similar to that of Mongols being excellent horsemen who fight with bow and sword.

The Namer of Time - A herald with a bodyguard that announces the arrival of the Tugar Horde.
