It was a town without a name, a secret resort for government officials to enjoy artificial weather, ideally located in the terminator belt and heavily guarder by the ministry of security's hounds: the border patrol.
As soon as the Green Movement came into power in 2040, its members were horrified to learn about the resort ; the whole affaire was immediately made public and the decision was made to turn the place into a shining beacon of what Proxima's future could be, one to be enjoyed by all its citizens.
Four years later, the city welcomed its first inhabitants via a brand new train line, going all the way to the old capital.
New Alexandria is a luminous place, eco-friendly and cosmopolitan ; it is always packed with tourists from the dark side of Proxima, it is bursting with outdoor activities and entertainment, light-years away of what early proxima culture was.
Other cities like New Alexandria should be built all along the terminator belt, and a new high speed train line linking them, ten years from now if the economy bounces back.
