Verdee:
Description:
Verdee is the westernmost town in the Kingdom of Fraonia, though calling it a town might be generous. Twenty people call Verdee home, not counting the various adventurers and transients who work on the farms miles to the east. The points of interest are The Roaring King tavern, Thorbold's Mining Emporium (general store), The Outdoor Magic Market, The Hammerstein Cafe, The Grand Temple, The Verdee Memorial Boarding School (where you are!) and Atl's Arena. Adventurers through the years have significantly expanded the town, with the latter four points of interest all being built or contributed to by adventurers.
History:
Over a hundred years ago, Verdee was nothing more than a distant farming town of five houses. Adventurers and wanderers discovered the unmapped region known as the West Marches shortly thereafter and made a small boom in the popularity of the region. Once the adventurers of the past had all died or retired, Verdee fell into silence again until the recent adventuring boom brought liveliness to the town once more.
The Grand Temple, established to provide a place of worship for all adventurers regardless of faith, has drawn its fair share of trouble as it has been expanded and made more glorious. While it was still small, a band of cultists of Graz'zt attacked and had to be beaten back by Berrit, Danryn, Flit, Offler, Othokent, Roarr, and Scratch Hissing-caw. By the time the shrines were built, it was attacked by a band of Orcs and Goblins with a catapult! The siege was lifted by the team of Claypole, Gill, Lia, Parhelion, Plahvatav, and Urogar. After the construction of the belltower, a band of Weretortoises attempted to extort the temple. They were confronted and destroyed by Grail, Jodal, Skorrotar, Tychus, and Vaneyck. The most recent conflict at the temple was with a group of tar golems masquerading as the adventurers Anduin, Rayyan, Thoradin, Grail, Jodal, Tychus, Vaneyck, Ton, and Bone. The evil adventurers were beat by largest coalition of (real) adventurers yet: Alban, Ava, Bambi, Bone (the real one), Charaxis, Grail (the real one), Gromley, Jodal (the real one), Jotunn, Miana, Morrune, Nis'i'ram, Sindar, Sparks, Sweetpea, Ton (real one), Tychus (also real), Urzog, and Whispered Promise.
Verdee itself has also been the target of attacks over the years. The first was a band of Kenku pickpockets that were wiped out by Luther Goldarrow and Rocky. After that came the famous Gnoll warband defeated by the coalition of Aurus, Balik, Camael, Claypole, Duncan, Ella, Eric, Firion, H4LF-TP, Jack, Ragnar, Rolen, and Wrath. A small skirmishing group of Goblins is the most recent attack, which was fended off by Trevor Havoc.
