Fifth Age - Hell on Urthe: Talhamnoduin

Taking their leave of what might be the last surviving forest and enclave of Daughters upon this mist-shrouded Urthe, Lieseya used the staff to bring the party safely through the ghost-haunted twisted thicket which surround it.

Though they travelled with constant vigilance, seeking to avoid any Drow patrols as they made their way to Talhamnoduin, the party were forced to fend off an attack by a large pack of shadow-beasts, sustaining injuries, but emerging triumphant.

Arriving at last at the city walls, and finding a gate manned by guards known to Lieseya and Dyavaen to turn a blind eye, the party gained entrance and swiftly made their way to the Werebeast tavern hoping to seek refuge with Rankin from the city's dark oppressors ... only to find the charred remains of the building and its occupants.

Directed to the Snake Pit, an Inn of dubious reputation, Wulgreth, a bluff giant of a man, introduced himself, with assurances that Rankin yet lived and plotted vengeance against those who had destroyed his beloved tavern.  Though Wulgreth freely admitted his sister Vaelarhosa was the Soulguard of Dinear, the ruler of Talhamnoduin, yet he earned the party's trust as he agreed to capture a Dark Priest for them.

The following evening, as arranged, a strange young woman named Melonda arrived to guide the party through the shadows of the city to a basement in a dark alley where Wulgreth awaited, with one Tanath Bek, priest of Arawn, drugged almost to insensibility.  With magic and deception, Teagan and Yetta (disguised as Dinear) convinced the man to help and seizing their chance, the party escaped from the city, down a hidden way that Wulgreth knew that led beneath the walls giving out at an abandoned well. Wishing the party good fortune in their quest, he left them, heading back into Talhamnoduin, there to join Rankin on a risky attempt upon the life of The Silent One, while the party began their journey to Tal'Baed'iear, ten leagues distant.
