Known by kids around town as simply "The Crazy House," Pilgram State is a New York State-run psychiatric
hospital located two miles outside of Rocky Point. Building 93 is the largest building and a place
where adolescents from across the East Cost seek treatment for mental illness.
Established in 1885, the official name of the hospital in its first ten years was the "Pilgram County Asylum."
The hospital was revolutionary at the time in the sense that it was a departure from the asylums of folklore,
which were overcrowded places where gross human-rights abuses often occurred.
