You may link images not proscribed by RPoL's standing site policies, but please be mindful of the image content and do not violate good taste or common sense when adding images to posts. If an image might require a trigger warning, consult a GM before including it; you may be directed to provide a direct link with an appropriate trigger warning rather than coding the image directly into your post, where it could potentially surprise people.
Stock photos or art you own are best, but if you use other art, please be sure to source it at the end of your post, in a private line to GM if in no other fashion. Do not steal art! It's too easy to link back to the original artist, especially with the power of Google reverse-image search.
If you aren't sure how to go about sourcing artwork you want to use, approach a GM and we'll be happy to assist you. It's not much different from citing research or information taken from older Forgotten Realms sourcebooks, for example, which is something we do all the time. You can always start by providing a direct link to the page where you found the image; if possible, we can work backwards from there. Whenever able, give credit to the original artist by name—if they have an online profile, personal website, deviantArt account, and so on, link back to whichever one of those actually hosts the image (like we do in the gallery). If the artist has a particular preference, do your best to link the page they prefer.
Respect artists' wishes and don't repost if they don't want you to; never link their work from a second or third party unless you have no other choice. Likewise, some artists specifically don't want their art used in RP by other people. If that's their policy, don't use their art. If you're unsure, it's never rude or wrong to contact an artist and ask their permission. They'll appreciate it, we promise!
