Ultui's Isle is one of the last truly mystical places left on the peninsula ruled by the Regnan Alliance. Just off the western coast , this heavily wooded island houses the Hidden Temple of the god Ultui, the Moon-Shadow. Holy to the dual god/goddess of mystery, magic, and the moon, it is said that the high reefs surrounding the island lead sailors astray if they do not have the approval of the Dual Divinity. A small fishermen's hamlet sits on one of the few beaches on the eastern coast of the island, and a path from the hamlet leads deep into the hilly wooded interior of the island. In the center of woods, the old temple of marble and onyx sits on the banks of a small lake. The consecrated of Ultui inhabit its halls, said to be prophets and seers of unparalleled Sight. In the nights of full moon, the small lake shines with eerie silver reflections, and it is said that anybody gazing into its depths can see the moment of their death. The temple is presided by an anointed duo - the Shadow and Light, two priests or priestess who act as the leaders of the mysterious cult of the Dual Divinity. It is said that just before the start of the war, the Queen of Regna went to the island, to consult with the prophets. This story is told and retold across the kingdom as the Ballad of the Wary Queen, but each bard singing it has his own interpretation of what the Shadow and Light of Ultui have prophesied to the Queen.
Shrines of the Moon-Shadow can be found all over Regna - usually small unimpressive buildings tucked away in some groove or by a well traveled road. A strong cult operates in the shadows of Collegio too - the Dual Divinity promises great control over magic to those brave enough to unravel their mystery. However, the cult's fleetingness and lack of church structure results in it being what it is - a cult of enthusiasts, of those trying to learn the secrets of magic, those in love with the tides of the sea, the waxing and waning of the moon, and eerie stories told around a campfire.
Ultui is the god/goddess of mystery. Worshiped in a disorganized cult spread all over the continent, the deity attracts those who hide something from their family or friends, wizards trying to uncover the secrets of nature and magic, but also all kinds of seekers of hidden or unknown knowledge. Priests and priestesses of Ultui are known to act as seers - reading the future out of everything from the flight of a flock of birds to a deck of cards, and everything in between. Like fate or destiny, the Moon-Shadow is neither good nor evil - as the devout like to say, "The Moon-Shadow gives with one hand while taking with the other." It is also rumored that the Dual Divinity has a small cult within the Collegio, but such rumors were never confirmed - although they are the favorite tavern-talk in some finer establishments in Lombard ports.
