Character Creation

Think of a character you want to play that would fit within your GM's setting. You can coordinate with your GM and fellow players for what type of characters you all want to play. Once you have an idea, you follow a few simples steps.

1. Choose Domains & Specialties
2. Choose Practices
3. Calculate Resources
4. Select Weaknesses (optional)
5. Party up

Step 1: DOSSIER

You'll create a dossier for your character which includes a name, description of your character's appearance in their true form and most common form, description of their personality, and a summary of their backstory.

Step 2: DOMAINS

Domains are conceptual skills or powers such as "Archery," "Chivalry," "Electricity," "Love," "Sea," "War," etc. You begin with 12 points to distribute between any domains you desire to a maximum of rank of (1 + total number of domains you have) in any one of them.

Domains are divided into vague and specific types. Vague things would be terms like "War", "Weather", or "Animals" while specific things would be terms like "Swordplay", "Lightning", or "Bears". The GM decides whether a domain is acceptable or not and labels them as either vague or specific. Vague domains cost 3 points per rank while specific domains cost only 1 point per rank.

Step 3: PRACTICES

Practices are conceptual actions you can take to affect or resist being affected by anything. You have six practices: Control, Creation, Destruction, Knowledge, Mobility, and Resilience. All of these practices begin at rank 1 and you have 6 points to split between them to increase their ranks to a maximum of 5 in any one of them.

Step 4: COMPLICATIONS

You select one motivation as well as at least 1 and up to 3 complications (though a GM may allow you to begin with more).

Step 5: PARTY UP

Once you've spent all your XP and written up their dossier information, your character is ready to go. You join with other players and their characters into a party called a "pantheon" and together embark on mythic adventures.

Yes, it's really that fast and easy and still allows for some really interesting gameplay.
