RESOURCES

You have four primary resources you manage: alacrity, focus, stamina, and willpower.



EXPENDITURE

Taking any action you take during your turn costs 1 alacrity + the number of actions they've taken since the start of their last turn. Some special abilities also cost Focus, Stamina, and/or Willpower equal to their rank. If you don't have enough resource to take a certain action, you can't take it. If you don't have enough alacrity to take an action, your turn immediately ends.



INTERRUPTION

If you attempt to act out of turn and interrupt someone else's action, it costs twice the normal amount of resource and you must make Test of Speed against the target you're trying to interrupt. If you succeed or tie, you interrupt their action with your action resolving yours immediately before theirs. If you fail, they resolve their action, then you resolve yours and then they continue their turn normally. Some effects may allow you to make a Clash of Wills or Game of Wits.



RECOVERY

You recover resource points every round. However, your resource pools can be damaged. Damage is accumulated as a score and reduces your maximum pool by the amount of damage you've taken. Damage can be nonlethal X or Lethal O. Nonlethal damage is lost every short rest at the same rate you regain points (ex. you lose an amount of stamina damage equal to END every short rest). Lethal damage is every long rest instead. Permanent damage isn't naturally healed but requires artificial healing either through magic or advanced technology.



ALACRITY POINTS (AP)

Alacrity is a combination of your speed, spatial awareness, and reaction time. You spend alacrity to move and take actions every round. A creature with 0 alacrity left is effectively paralyzed and unable to move or react.

You have an ALACRITY pool equal to AGILITY + DEXTERITY. You regain 1 alacrity point (AP) every round.


The cost to take an action is equal to 1 + Rank of Ability being used + number of actions you've already taken since the start of your last turn. Using a reaction costs twice this amount.




FOCUS POINTS (FP)

Focus is a combination of concentration, calculation, memory, puzzle-solving, effort, grit, etc. You spend focus to perform mentally straining tasks. A creature with 0 focus cannot think and is too confused, dazed, or brain dead to act.

You have a FOCUS pool equal to INTELLECT + WISDOM.  You regain 1 focus point (FP) every round.


STAMINA

Stamina is a combination of your physical energy, mass, and vigor. You spend stamina to perform physically straining tasks. A creature with 0 stamina is too fatigued, ill, injured, or weakened to act.

You have a STAMINA pool equal to ENDURANCE + STRENGTH. You regain 1 stamina point (SP) every round.



WILLPOWER

Willpower is a combination of faith, hope, mental fortitude, resolve, sanity, sense of purpose, sense of self, etc. You spend willpower to utilize supernatural effects and to resist psychological and spiritual attacks and manipulation. A creature with 0 WILLPOWER left is distraught, hopeless, and has no will to live, let alone act.

You have a WILLPOWER pool equal to CHARISMA + RESOLVE. You regain 1 willpower point (WP) every round.
