A confused creature cannot willingly accept or give aid or communicate in any language nor use verbal components. When they listen, speak, read, write, or otherwise attempt to communicate, it is only gibberish. They are treated as unwilling against the
Assist action,
Buff and
Restoration effects, and any other attempt to help them.
Stage 2: As Stage 1 except the Confused creature is also
Compelled 2 to take a random course of action from the table below. If they are attacked, they are
Compelled 2 to attack the last target that attacked them instead of taking the random action.
Stage 3: As Stage 2 except it's
Compelled 3.
Stage 4: As Stage 2 except it's
Compelled 4.

| 1-2 | Attack the nearest perceivable creature. If unable to attack a target, the confused creature will take other actions to do so such as drawing a weapon or moving towards the target or searching for them. If no other creatures are perceived, they attack themselves using the normal attack and defenses as both an attacker and an unwilling target. |
| 3-4 | Move in a random direction (1d8 for horizontal movement, 1d8 for vertical if burrowing, gliding, flying, or swimming). |
| 5-6 | Babble incoherently. |
