- Upon reaching the Europa Hotel, PC group splits into two.
- PC Group 1 (Handley, McCarthy, Meyer, and Doyle in the Humvee. With Friedmann on the motorcyle) heads to the Basilica with the folks who were wounded in the ambush. They leave Anderson (“Sergeant Cutter’s critically wounded man), Kaminski, Boswell, and the West German (hit in the neck) overnight.
- PC group 2 (Fox, Stone, St. Gil, Jordan, Jagelis, Weiss and Babicevs) stay at the hotel, get to know the location and work on the vehicles to get them back into fighting shape.
- While at St. Mary’s Basilica, PC chaplain George Rawlinson joins the party.
- PC Group 1 returns to the hotel, and the party is once again all together. Then, they split again the following day. Group 1 stands guard (most of the unit), Group 2 (the scouts) sleep, while Group 3 (McCarthy, Handley, Babicevs, and Rawlinson) go to Ladas compound to get intel on the supposed American POWs and go to the market.
- At Ladas compound, McCarthy pays Lada for the intel on the POWs (in ammunition) and gets their supposed location (Ostrow Island). Lada suspiciously tells McCarthy to make sure none of the captors escape – that all of them should be killed so that no questions are asked later.
- Later at the market, Group 3 acquires 750kg of food, and 1000L methanol. Payment is made in ammo and captured Soviet weapons.
- Back at the hotel, during a game of poker with some of Kaminski's men (including Otto), a random civilian dressed man named Vincent Wright comes in and warns the PCs that the IB is coming and wants the party’s vehicles. It’s clear he is CIA or DIA (a spook). Jagelis radios the Major, and the Group 3 starts heading back to the hotel as fast as they can.
- Sure enough, the IB shows up with two captains (Capt. Dobson and Capt. Thomas) asking the PCs to join the IB, or at least let the IB buy their vehicles. Jagelis straight up tells them off and the IB captains leave the hotel.
- Group 3 gets sidelined by a local militia and has to pay their way in ammunition in order to move through the militia’s territory.
- Jonathan Young joins the PC party at a bridge crossing and Group 3 makes it back to the hotel.
- The PCs then decide how to proceed, whether they should leave the city or stay. They decide to complete a few more tasks before leaving the city.
- Kaminski returns to the hotel on foot, complaining that no one picked him up from the hospital.
- The PCs then split up again, with some players staying put (maintenance and sentry – mainly NPCs), some going back to the hospital, some to the markets for intel, and some to recce the POW holding area on Ostrow Island.
Recce group (Jagelis, Friedmann, Stone and St. Gil)
- After dangerously traversing the river on inflated air mattresses, the Recce group investigates the shipyard island where the supposed American POWs are being kept. They only find what appears to be a normal salvaging crew with no signs of a POW camp, and come to the decision that Lada was lying to the party in order to get them to take out his competition.
Engagement across the bridge from Ostrow Island
Hospital group (Rawlinson, Meyer, Handley)
- The Hospital Group heads to St. Mary’s to learn about their wounded. While there, they meet with a local doctor named Dr. Ruit.
- They hear some rumors about nearby medical supply caches as well.
- They then meet with Captain Webb from the IB, who based on a request from Dr. Ruit, says the IB will no longer charge the party with tolls when travelling through their territory.
- The Hospital group then goes to an eatery. Francis "Frank" Benucci joins the PCs and the group heads back to the hotel.
Intel group (Babicevs, Young, and Kaminski)
- Heads to thieves market. Meet with Volodya, lieutenant of Gang Anjo. No real info to speak of, but at least they meet the gang.
Engagement at the Thieve's Market
(Continued)
- The Recce Group and Hospital Groups arrive back at the hotel.
- The fuel and food shipment arrives. A local gang (Anjo) joins the fuel convoy as “escorts”. When they arrive at the hotel, a fight almost breaks out between the gang and the merchants bringing the goods, but is averted when an M-24 Hind flies overhead. The merchants stand down and go home.
- The Intel Group returns to the hotel.
- Once all reunited, the party decides to find a new base of operations outside of the city. They head east toward primary school #29 and start setting up shop. Kaminski stays at the hotel.
- Strategic Update - Things are revealed to be heating up in Gdansk with a lot of social unrest. Lots of people are getting arrested under suspicion of being KGB, in response to increased pressure from the soviets. Word has it that there’s a major Russian attack coming, and soon. PACT forces clearly want to bring Gdansk back into the fold.
- McCarthy wants to set up a meeting with the pro-independence militia heads at St. Mary’s to talk through options for defending the city.
- Meanwhile, reports from the hospital are that Paul Boswell has up and disappeared (turns out Wright picked him up and hid him at a safe house). It’s also learned that Matt Doyle has been arrested under suspicion of being KGB.
- Babicevs, Rawlinson and Handley visit a local man named Aurek in the community outside of the school, and reassures the man that the unit won't be staying in the area for long.
- Kaminski shows at primary school #29 with Vincent Wright, who gives information about the coming Soviet attack. The soviets are going to be attacking with at least 4 battalions (up to 8 maximum), along with at least 4 MBTs and 2 Artillery batteries. He also tasks the group with picking up a man named Kulinski, a Polish artillery officer who is defecting and has info about the location of the artillery batteries. The PCs will get a 60mm mortar as a reward for their effort. Wright also provides an 81mm mortar crewed by his own British men (callsign Slingshot) The PC team arranged their new plan, splitting up yet again and heading out. Rooke, Weiss, Fox, St. Gil, Handley and Jordan will stay at the new base for security. As for the others:
Church meeting (McCarthy and Rawlinson)
- McCarthy and Pastor Rawlinson head to the church.
- There, the major successfully convinces the various militia leaders to join forces to throw off the inevitable assault. Gang Anjo (Anjo himself) agrees to donate men to be dismounts for McCarthy’s unit.
- Lt. Col Hawthorne (leader of the IB) informs McCarthy that he’ll be sending a liaison back with him to help coordinate communication with the PC unit.
- Before leaving, 2nd Lt. Pearce joins McCarthy and Rawlinson and informs them that he will be acting as their liaison.
- On the way back to the school, a large blast rocks one of the smaller markets (Long Market). Schweppenburg is seen briefly running away by McCarthy, and looks to be the likely culprit.
- The church meeting team makes it back to the school.
Kulinski recovery (Jagelis, Meyer, Young, Friedmann, Stone, and Babicevs)
- Recovery team makes it to the farm where Kulinski is holed up.
Engagement at a Random Farmhouse Southeast of Gdansk
(Continued)
- The team prepares a plan for how to deal with the Russian assault.
- Kulinski details out the two artillery batteries and an ammo dump. One battery is towed guns, the other SPGs and MLRSs.
- Oskar and Jonathan Young will go for either the spgs or ammo dump depending on how the attack shakes out. The rest of the PCs will make a mechanized assault on the towed guns.
- While the plan is being decided, some PCs go to Gang Anjo and pick up some gang members as part of the earlier agreement (for the gang members to be dismounts).
- The group finally decides to go all in on the towed guns.
Engagement at some random houses Southeast of Gdansk
