Credo
Credos are compulsive behavior or rules that your character follows. Credos can be anything from an addiction or nervous tick to an oath or vow. Each credo specifies a restriction on a character's behavior that they must do or must not do in certain circumstances. A GM labels a credo very easy, easy, medium, difficult, or very difficult. Something that is very easy is generally considered meaningless in a game and is not acceptable as a credo. Anything that's considered very difficult is also not recommended as they are restrictions that can make an adventure nearly impossible.
When a credo becomes a complication during a pivotal scene, a character gains 1 temporary surge for complying with it every 10 rounds if it's easy. They get 1 temporary surge every 3 rounds if it's medium and 1 temporary surges every round if it's difficult. At the end of the scene, they gain 1 surge if it was easy, 2 surges if it was medium, and 3 surges if it was difficult.
