Shallya is the goddess of healing, mercy and childbirth; probably the most universally beloved deity in the Empire. Everyone, regardless of who their primary deity is, will sometimes include Shallya in their prayers. And, unlike some other gods who are feared or respected, Shallya is genuinely loved for her kindness and mercy.
Shrines of Shallya offer healing, both mundane and magical, to all who are in need, as well as providing midwifery services to pregnant women. These services are offered free of charge; but popular belief has it that if a donation is not offered by one able to afford it, Shallya's mother Verena will see to it that justice is enacted upon the offender.
Symbols
Shallya's main symbols are the dove, and a heart with a drop of blood. Her priests wear white with a heart symbol embroidered in gold on the left breast.
Strictures
- Avoid killing.
- Never refuse healing to a supplicant genuinely in need.
- Never halt a soul when it is time for it to depart.
- Go about your life unarmed. A stout walking staff is all you’ll ever need.
- Abhor the Fly Lord in all his forms.
