Kislev lies north-east of the Empire, and is a long-standing ally; a connection firmly cemented during the Great War Against Chaos when the armies of Magnus the Pious saved the city of Praag from destruction at the hands of the Chaos hordes. Nonetheless, Kislevites tend to look down on Imperial citizens as pampered and ignorant, protected from the ever-present dangers of the northern wastes only by brave Kislevite blood.

Kislevite society is deeply divided. In the south, where the majority of the population lives and where the bulk of agricultural land lies, most people identify as Gospodars. The Gospodars are, by and large, serfs tied to the land, distrustful both of outsiders and and of their own social superiors. Further north, where steppe and tundra enviroment dominate, the population is made up mostly of Ungols, people who trace their ancestry to the eastern steppes. Above these two disparate groups sits a small class of nobles, who identify little with their subjects and who trace their ancestry to the peoples of Norsca.

Kislevites have their own gods, distinct from those of southern peoples, though some southern gods have been incorporated into the Kislevite pantheon, particularly Taal and Ulric. Their chief god is Ursun, the bear god, an animal long held sacred by the Gospodars. Other important Kislevite gods are Dazh, who stole the secret of fire from the sun and granted it to the ancient people of Kislev, and Tor, god of thunder and lightning. Many Kislevites also worship traditional local spirits and make offerings to house gods.
