Fifth Age - Hell on Urthe: The Long Way Home

Five years previously, Yetta Carmine, daughter of Hamin, had also returned to the Urthe from Kalibar in the Grey Wastes, finding the land that was once her home now strange and terrible under the rule of the Dark Gods.

Though she fought the Urthe's new masters, eventually her luck ran out. Betrayed, Yetta was captured, made a slave and shipped, as so many before her, far north to the frozen lands of the Flesh-eaters. But there, when it seemed all hope was ended, she learned the truth of Ice Hold, a truth that her father and his companions would also soon discover, that the lost and damned found freedom and peace.

But for some peace did not come so easily, and once Yetta was healed of her wounds she took her leave, seeking revenge upon those who had wronged her. And at Wolsten she found Gedd, one of the slave ship’s crew, if not the worst of them, but before she could question him, they were attacked by a Ghuul, one of the Fallen.

Predictably Gedd fled, stealing a horse, and by the time Yetta had slain the Ghuul, Gedd was long gone. Undeterred, she set out in pursuit refusing to let this slender hope escape her.

And her determination was rewarded. No horseman, Gedd had driven his mount until the poor beast perished, and on foot, injured and lost, Yetta was soon able to catch him. But even as she found him, howls reached her ears, drawing closer, forcing her to seek refuge in a nearby stone keep, her prisoner carried unceremoniously over her shoulder.

Greeted by the Lady of the keep and her strangely feral companion, Yetta was lucky to be mistaken for one of their own, a Gaur, beasts in human form, so the wakening and terrified Gedd informed her.

And more, in the privacy of a room bestowed upon their guest ... that the Ghuul had been hunting him and one other slaver, Lyle, after they had foolishly stolen something meant for the Dark Brothers. Lyle, who still haunted her dreams and who had in his possession her mother’s ring, snatched from her finger.

With a reluctant and fearful Gedd pressed into service, the pair escaped the keep, only to find themselves trapped in a familiar and timeless grey nothingness.

No way to judge how long they walked, lost in that limbo, until at last they happened upon another traveller - or rather he found them. An Elf, distraught over the death of his daughter Saffaris, one of Yetta’s father’s companions. But even in his grief, he sought to rescue her, to guide her to a portal that lead to Talhamnoduin, Iskbridge that was.

And there, aided by Gedd who was eager to ingratiate himself and escape her retribution, Yetta found Lyle, and slew him, though rather he met his death at his own hand, falling from a window as he tried to flee from her. And even as she regained her mother’s ring, so too was she reunited with the father who had scoured the mist-enshrouded lands of the Urthe to find her, and his companions, who had themselves journeyed back from the Ice Wastes looking for her.

With Hamin and Yetta together at last, the party resolved to seek out the Daughters hidden in Taurenbaraun, some 25 leagues to the south-east of Talhamnoduin.
