Fifth Age - Hell on Urthe: Ice Hold

Though both ships had been damaged by the attack of the Kraken, the Ice Maiden and Falmar en Salka manage to limp into dock, reuniting Hamin with Alasha'an, Brugar, Melzakre and Saffaris, his companions of many adventures back in the Fourth Age.

Warned of the reputation of those who inhabit Ice Hold, Amhairghin poses as 'Prince Helios' on a pilgrimage and Hamin as the new captain of the slave ship, with the rest disguised as bodyguards and an entourage of Dark Priests.

Hamin's assertion that all slaves aboard the Falmar en Salka had perished in the Kraken's attack angered Parun, the representative of the Flesh-eaters who met the party, along with the mirror-helmed guards of Ice Hold, but he reluctantly allowed the party entry into Ice Hold where they were shown to private quarters.

Introductions, and a heated argument between Hamin and Curta, one of the freed slaves, were interrupted by the appearance of servants with food and drink. Luthien questioned one by the name of Hasvir, risking all to divulge the party's secrets ... but that trust was rewarded as in turn the truth of Ice Hold was revealed.

For it transpired that those who dwelt in Ice Hold were not Flesh-eaters, but saviours of those enslaved, their reputation a convenient lie to explain their demand for slaves. So too, the mirror-helms of the guards concealed the features of Elves, descendants of those who fled there centuries past.

More aid too, Ice Hold was able to offer. Saffaris was to learn that some of her Sisters yet lived, and Hamin was told that his daughter, Yetta, had indeed been delivered by slavers, but once recovered from her ordeal had taken a ship back south, heading to Talhamnoduin, sworn to kill the ones who took her. Repairs were organised for both damaged ships, though with the party sworn to secrecy neither Captain Desje nor the freed slaves are informed of Ice Hold's true nature. Desje promises to await the party's return, while Hamin sets the former slaves to piracy, their prey the slaver ships that ply the western waters.

Suitable clothing, weapons and other supplies were provided from Ice Hold's stores, as the party, old friends and new, save only for Curta who chooses to stay behind, set out into the Frozen Wastes in search of the Lair of the White Wyrm.
