To my dear friends in absentia:

I cannot relate all that I have been doing since we were last in each other's company, but I do have some information to share. Curiosity led me to do further research on our guests. In particular the maid that you know as Ramona. I do not know how she came to be in the service of Niccolo Villanova, but I do not believe she is a mere house maid. I have reason to believe, in fact, that she is, in reality, an "agent" for the Bernoulli Family by the name of Ophelia Bernoulli, possibly related to the late Leonardo Bernoulli and authoress of Cultivating Resiliance in Disease-Prone Flora. I have discovered that she is a fluent reader of Aldiz'ahali and is most likely a fluent speaker in that tongue as well. She is even conversant with Crescent historical documents, at least as they relate to flora.

I do not know if Niccolo is aware of who he has working in his scullery, but perhaps it would behoove us to discover more. I am certain that you recall that it was an "Ophelia Bernoulli" that warned Signore Ettoire about the trade routes Haythem Freschobaldi intended to use just prior to his "great failure." I will continue to learn what I can.

Sincerely yours,
Father Angelo Orsini
