The Village Hidden by Sand is the hidden village of the Land of Wind and was founded by the First Kazekage, who united "all" the desert-dwelling shinobi under his leadership. In truth the village originally existed of only the five most powerful desert tribes (Asbahura, Shahanahura, Aqrabahura, a Kebrahura, and Shirahura), followed in time by their sub-branches and other groups. Even now some few small ninja clans still operate independantly. Since the time of the Fifth Kazekage the village has been enjoying a rise in wealth and power until today when it is now arguably the most powerful of the Six Great Villages.

Suna is currently under the leadership of the 13th Kazekage Talayeh Avin.
