The Ghost Lord:

The Ghostlord used to be a druid named Urikel Zarl.  He had a fondness for lions in life and later he summoned ghost lions to attack the soldiers of Daria within the capital city of Rhest.

The Story:

The once-proud druid dwelt in the plains south of Rhest and led several tribes of nomads.  These nomads were said to have built a massive lion of stone in  honour of the great druid, who taught them the ways of the lion and how to live at peace with these proud creatures.

Some nobles from Rhest befriended the nomads, but when a visitor hunted down and killed a lion monarch for its pelt and claws, the nomads reacted in violence, killing all of the nobles.  Rhest answered in kind, and its army marched against the southern plains.  The disorganized nomads stood little chance against Rhest's military might, and the tribes were slaughtered despite the fact that the lions rose to defend them.  The warriors of Rhest confronted and slew the druid between the paws of his own massive stone shrine.

After the massacre of tribesmen, ghost lions attacked the city of Rhest, killing everyone they came across.  When dawn came, the entire cavalry, including their family and servants, were dead.  Historians point out this event as the turning point to the decline of Rhest and its eventual destruction.

Rhest never fully recovered from this night of terror.  In the years since, the once-verdant hills to the south have grown horrid and tangled.  The Thornewaste is all that remains of where the tribe once lived.  The man was given the name Ghostlord and tales of how the city was attacked by the spirit beasts are still told to frighten children today.

Present Times:

The party learned that Saarvith, the Goblin Ranger and Wyrmlord of the Red Hand, was entrusted with the phylactery of the Ghostlord.  Azarr Kul is forcing the Ghostlord to align with the Red Hand by holding the phylactery as blackmail.  Ulwai Stormcaller is stationed with the Ghostlord to get the troops promised to the Red Hand.

The Wrathguard fought their way into the Ghostlord's lair, killing Wyrmlord Ulwai Stormcaller in the process.  They returned the Ghostlord's phylactery and removed the undead druid from the war with the Red Hand.
