Founding

According to local legend, the original homesteads that grew into the town of Moorhaven were laid down by a coven of Scottish witches. At that time, the landscape was more heavily forested, but the witches and their families set about cultivating the land in traditional ways, and soon they had transformed their haven into a moorland. Thus the name of Moorhaven.

The Accord

Rumours that float around the campuses at both the academy and institute allege that the headmaster of Baneberry is a shapeshifting dragon mighty enough to dictate that no adult hunters prey on his students. The consequences for violating this edict is the extermination of all human life in a significant radius that varies considerably from one rumour to the next. In some rumours, Sanger Rainsford, the founder of the Rainsford Institute, confronted the dragon and in an epic display of sheer testicular fortitude pointed out that he had said "adult hunters" and thus an "accord" was reached between the two.

The Dark Witch

The Dark Witch of Moorhaven is rumoured to be the absurdly powerful descendant of the founding witches of Moorhaven, with the specifics varying from taking on an entire squad of Hexenjaeger without breaking a sweat all the way up to threatening the dragon himself. Others will note that she can't be that powerful because Ben Hayward is known to have gone up against her solo. Others note that Ben is the only hunter to have ever faced The Dark Witch and come back alive...
