As varied as the monsters themselves, there are hunters that generalize, as well as those that specialize. Primarily bound by the fact that they are humans first, and supernatural in nature second, any races that are not human will be found in Monsters of Moorhaven

Below are a few examples of the kinds that exist. (Feel free to fiddle with names and archetypes, I just wanted to name a few.)

The Old-world Polymath: This is the every-monster's hunter. Well-learned and often specialized, these hunters use the old world established means to hunt out today's monsters. They do not typically use magic regularly, except to vanquish or find their enemies.  Van Helsing is the obvious root of these hunters, but they exist in all forms.

The Hexenjaeger: More derived from religion than straight knowledge, witch hunters are an order as old as the church, seeking out those possessed by, in service of, or afflicted by "the Devil". While this description is obviously Christianity derived, they come from all walks of life. They tend to specialize in hunting monsters that can hide among humans.

Paladin: Born out of Celtic Christianity's interactions with the occult in the Middle Ages, these individuals may have been originally motivated by a sense of religion & humanism. However, unlike witch-hunters, they have no qualms in using natural/light magic against occult/dark magic & creatures. These individuals blend magic & magic-infused martial fighting, but also have their parallels in many cultures.

Military Special forces: Unlike the old-school individualized hunters, there are subchapters of a sublet of any government that also are aware of the magical dangers of the world. While rarely as well funded as, for instance, those Nazi-era magic seekers, these are usually highly disciplined fighters of the magical dark. Because belief in magic is so sparse, these folk are just as likely to be de-funded as soon as budget cuts hit, leaving them adrift.

Wizards: Trained magic is well established in this universe, but no established examples exist.

"Mad" science: As often good as evil, these people blur the edges between magic and science.
