Origin

“Listen well, honey, because you’re the only person I’ve ever told this too. I grew up on Nevos, with my mom, a corporate businesswoman; my dad, or second mother to your kind, I suppose, was a commando and always away on travel. Neither of them had much time for me, but I loved spending afternoons in the gardens with my mom. Then she met that bastard, Tonn. With my dad away all the time, she fell for the turian asshat. Soon enough, my mom was quitting her job to raise their perfect little baby, Kasha. Being a pureblood asari is pretty much the same as being the product of an asari and a varren; nobody likes you. But Kasha, ohh she was soo cute, little turian-asari baby. Ugh. Why don’t I tell you more in private. Would you like to come to my room for a drink?”

History

“So where was I? Right. I was lonely, and I met another lonely girl, Freh’ya. I know, asari-on-asari, hot right? We finally got around to doing it, and I blew her mind. But not in a completely good way. Sometimes when asari meld, their partner’s mind becomes overwhelmed. I’m what they call an Ardat Yakshi. Woah, woah, don’t look so scared. What you’ve heard about us is mostly lies. Yes, when we’re young and can’t control ourselves, it can be scary, but we figure out how to contain our powers as we age. But I couldn’t control myself then. She died, and I had to get out of there. I didn’t get a chance to grieve, because asari hunt my kind like animals. Hang right there, I’m going to slip into something a little more comfortable.”

Motivations

“So I floated around, taking gigs dancing, bartending, even worked for the Eclipse for a bit. When everything went to hell a few months ago, I hardly even noticed. I was too busy living for me. Except for one of the refugees I met on the citadel. Shala had left Palaven during the fighting. It was the perfect chance to escape her abusive redacted of a boyfriend. I swear, you’re the only decent turian man I’ve ever known, baby.

In all the destruction, we found each other. She was just like Freh’ya. Well, a turian-Freh’ya. We were together for a while, and it was perfect. Then that Turian son-of-a-vorcha, Seeto, found her. He conned her into going back to him. I couldn't have that, I had to protect her. We melded one last time. It was incredible. Being a dancer has really paid off. But she was so stressed that her mind broke from the pleasure. It was terrible. No, I'm not crying...much. Anyway, I've been funneling every cent I make into her recovery. And him and Inea, this asari justicar, have been hunting me ruthlessly ever since.

They don’t understand that all I want is someone to love. Come here, baby. Kiss me. Mmm...just like that...yes...yes...YES. Aww, looks like you didn’t make it. So sad. One less Turian piece of [redacted] staining this galaxy."

Ardat-Yakshi Variant The Ardat-Yakshi are the result of a rare genetic mutation. Instead of the mutually-fulfilling psychic joining that most Asari are capable of, the psychic joining of an Ardat-Yakshi is fatal to the other party… and an addictive rush for the Ardat-Yakshi. Instead of Embrace Eternity, the Ardat-Yakshi instead gains the Hypnotic Move as her Species Move with the following addition:

The Ardat-Yakshi may spend all of her hold to do harm equal to the hold spent (ap, ignores shields and barriers). This harm is neurological and rarely manifests in an obvious fashion to an onlooker. If the harmed character dies, the Ardat-Yakshi marks experience.

Hypnotic: When you have time and solitude with someone, they become fixated upon you. Roll +Hot. On a 10+, hold 3. On a 7-9, hold 2. They can spend your hold, 1 for 1, by:

Class Move: Reave - When you reach out with your biotics to Reave a character, roll +Hard. On a 10+, all 3. On a 7-9, choose 2:

Personal Move: Dangerous & Sexy - When you enter into a charged situation, roll +Hot. On a 10+, hold 2. On a 7-9, hold 1. Spend your hold 1 for 1 to make eye contact with an NPC present, who freezes or flinches and can’t take action until you break it off. On a miss, your enemies identify you immediately as their foremost threat.
