Planet Easter Egg

Known simply as "The Egg" by natives and explanar beings that have cause to talk about it. It is both the Prime Material Plane and a confluence of explanar energy where all of the outer planes connect and intermingle. It is a world inhabited by The People, a single sapient species with many distinct races.

Global Geography
Planet Easter Egg gets it's name from it's peculiar geography and continental formations. The world is divided into rough layers based on their latitude. The layers are presented below in order from north to south.

The Glacial Plains
In the furthest northern reaches there is nothing but never-ending, ever expanding, glaciers. At the north pole immense pressure from within the earth births vast mountains of ice that crash into the surrounding glacial plains and force the rest of the plain southward. This region is inhabited by tribes of barbarians who viciously compete over the resources, treasure, and wreckage that can be found in the glaciers.

The Melt
As the glaciers travel south and the temperatures rise they begin to melt. The water and soil from the glaciers feeds this belt of green land where life is able to thrive. Depending on your specific location this area may change wildly; savannahs, to swamps, to rain-forests. can all be found here. Despite the apparent value of the land there relatively few people living in the region, tribes of people live off the land and move from place to place to confound any enemies from the north or south. Tectonic movements from the glaciers has prevented what people to the south would call permanent kingdoms from forming, but that does not mean there is not a rich and lasting culture that thrives in the most fertile land on the egg.

The Saurian Desert
Just north of the equatorial belt is the hottest region on the egg. It is a vast and unforgiving desert, redeemed as a place to live only by the many massive rivers that slice vertically through it's barren sands. But life always finds a way, under the hateful gaze of Ra the children of Sobek have founded a vast and complex civilization. The Saurians hold the desert in an iron scaled claw and have their eyes set on the rest of the world.

The Equatorial Belt
The egg is ringed at it's middle by a dense and foreboding mountain range. Many of the valleys in the mountains have very successful isolated communities and dwarf cultures riddle the mountains living in harmony with their great and gentle beasts. The various great mountain peaks also feature a bevy of religious institutions who built their temples high in the mountains to better commune with the gods. These temples tend towards a philosophy of self perfection and enlightenment over the more grandiose religious institutions further south.

The Green Belt
The miles and miles of temperate green land between the mountains and the sea is the breadbasket and cradle of the People. There are many independent kingdoms and city states dotting the land all connected by rivers and roads that act as the arteries of trade. No region on the egg is more culturally diverse than the green miles of this verdant land.

The Coast
Usually considered part of the Green belt but distinct enough to be worth mentioning. Hundreds of cities dot the coast of the Great Sea. Many of these cities are dominated by trading companies or merchant families who take every chance they can to acquire an much gold as possible. The greats trading cities are located at the mouths of rives where they are able to tax any goods being sold up river tot he various other kingdoms in the green belt.

The Great Sea
While there are certainly other bodies of water on the egg that are worthy of being called a sea this one dwarfs them all by a hundred fold. This vast ocean covers about the bottom third of the egg and technically continues all the way down to the southern pole. In addition to the small archipelago nations that dot the sea there are also vast under sea nations that claim swathes of the ocean floor. Atlantis, capital of The League of 10,000 Under the Sea and seat of Neptune himself is the crown jewel of these under sea cities.

The Auspicious Halo
Far to the south a group of floating mini-continents spin around the south pole. These islands are populated by an ancient and noble culture, led by seven Great Clans who all serve their divine emperor. While their ways are strange to people from the north they are no less advanced and their  samurai warrior caste is more than capable of standing up to an armored northern knight in battle.

Charybdis
The demon that eats the waves is located at the furthest southern point on the egg. He is a whirlpool miles across who devours surface ships and undersea constructs. While probably not a literal malevolent force the pools boundaries fluctuate unpredictably and it is hard to not take being pulled to the bottom of the ocean personally.
