House Rules

The base system is Mutants and Masterminds (found here http://www.d20herosrd.com/). My goal is to combine the D&D friendly player facing potion of 2nd edition with the mechanically streamlined and free to play mechanics of 3rd edition. Also I'm adding some restrictions to enforce the High Fantasy feel.

Abilities
Reverting back from the 3rd ed's 8 stats to 2nd ed's 6 stats, Attack and Defense bonus.

To clarify the stats we are using Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma.

Additionally we are using Score and modifier style abilities rather than modifier only. In practice this means that all powers will directly increase your ability modifier but drains will be half as effective and you need to reach 0 in an ability to be incapacitated (rather than -5). Ability costs are modified appropriately.

Attack Bonus
Attack Bonus adds to the accuracy of all of your attacks, this replaces the fighting and close/ranged combat skills.
Attack = 1d20 + Attack Bonus + Size Modifier + Miscellaneous - Range Penalty

Defense Bonus
Defense bonus adds to your Defense against being hit by attack.
Defense = 10 + Defense Bonus + Size Modifier + Miscellaneous Modifiers

Skills
Skills are following 3rd ed's slimmed down skill list. Close and Ranged Combat skills have been removed in favor of having a base attack bonus.
