The square wooden sign shows a buxom and smiling girl holding a flagon of beer. This must be the Inn of the Welcome Wench, a place renowned for its good food and excellent drink! Passing merchants make a point of stopping, as do many other sorts of wayfarers, and it is said that the place is always filled with patrons.

The staff includes a young stable boy and groom to handle the riding and draft animals. The owner is Ostler Gundigoot. Assisted by his wife and two daughters, as well as a couple of serving ladies and two potboy apprentices Gundigoot keeps this in and tavern running.

Of the two boys here, one is part of the local militia and the other is an aspiring Druid.

The wench offers room and board to travelers paying between 2 silver and 5 gold per night. Choice venison, mutton, poached salmon, trout stuffed with specially prepared mixtures, goose roasted to a golden brown, pork, steaming sausages, steak and kidney pie with mushrooms or truffles, squab stuffed pheasant, and boiled crayfish in drawn butter are just some of the items available here.
