Hotel Bartan
In Game Description of Hotel Bartan:
The inn is initially dark and, apart from being sheltered by the wind, nearly as cold as outside. The lighting of several candles rectifies the first issue, ushering in details of the lodging's interior. Everyone is in a spacious common room that's just as furnished and well kept as it may have been before the war. There's seating at a window-side table, next to book cases containing reading material and board games, and a few more set in a semicircle in front of a large stone hearth. Against the back wall and directly beneath a large flag of Poland is a sofa as well. Lastly, paintings of seaside themes complete the room.

Ostroski raises her lantern and illuminates those nearest her, being O'Brien and Grant, and then motions for them to spark up the hearth. A bin next to the fireplace contains split logs and kindling. As innkeeper she would have done it herself, but she's wearing a parka thrown over flannel sleep wear and was obviously not prepared for guests at this hour. There's also the more pressing matter of getting breakfast started and, more importantly, sorting out the request to cross the river. Maria hasn't said much of anything to McCarthy about the latter as no decision can be without consulting her fellow councilors. The Polish woman and her lantern soon disappear down a hall.

An hour passes while the Mad Dogs mill around the common room. As the warmth builds from the hearth, so too does the smell of an upcoming hot breakfast. Every now and then children are present, briefly anyway. Two boys decked out in winter clothing haul in more split logs from the wood shed outside and refill the bin. A girl is seen entering the kitchen. Another leaves and returns a short while later with heavy jugs of water. None of them speak to the Mad Dogs even if they're offered a simple greeting. It's explained to those who haven't been here before that the Hotel Bartan also functions as an orphanage.
