Chelm
Chelm is the old Jewish quarter of Gdansk. It's damage appears not to have been inflicted by the nuclear strikes and the air bombings - rather conventional combat. Many of the buildings are bullet ridden and pockmarked by what you'd guess was tank and artillery fire. The neighborhood is mostly cold war era Communist architecture - simple, flat, unappealing concrete apparent blocks. Also in this area of the city are a handful of old military wrecks, including an M113, an M1A1, and a bradley, along with numerous destroyed PACT vehicles. Life in Chelm continues to flourish, and the population, while still nowhere near pre-war levels, is surprisingly high compared to other parts of the city.
