Lexicon and Slang
- Black Lotus- A powerful narcotic. Space drugs.
- Cipher - An unknown person, often a newcomer or person without a reputation.
- Elf / Alvar / Eldar: Blanket terms, often used interchangeably, they do not refer to only the classical Tolkien-style elves, but any one of a number of humanoid species who exhibit the traits of long lives, a graceful mein, seen to be physically beautiful, magically or psychically talented, with a strongly aesthetic culture. While it does apply to fantasy-based elves, the term is equally applicable for species such as Vulcans, Romulans, Minbari, Na'vi, etc. It very much includes space elves.
- Imperial Registry Number - IRN. It's in your chip, number. You've got a chip, don't you?
- Number - Slang for person, slightly derogatory, referring to one's Imperial Registry Number.
- Orcs: As with the term elf, "orc" is blanket term that includes not only fantasy-style orcs, goblins, and such, but also species that are seen as rough and aggressive, including Klingons, Gamorreans, Krogan, etc. The term very much includes "space orcs," though in the setting we have done away with the more negative connotations of "orcness." While keeping them loud and brash, they are particularly noteworthy for being adept with technology. They place considerable cultural value on engineering and other technical skills, as well as the arts.
- Zero - A person without an Imperial Registry Number or chip. They have no rights and are considered fair game for slavers, thieves, bandits, etc.
