Detective.
Al was born in one of the shanty areas of Edge. An area that had been German a generation before swiftly become the territory of goblins, after the magic went bad in Stonewalk. Al's father abandon the family before his birth. Growing up, he was given the cruel nickname "the half-goblin". Al eventually turned into the insult, being fast and smart, Al adapted to the dark became better than many in the goblin's native environment.
Al got involved with local gangs falling in with a bad crowd, a group of swindlers. He was caught and pulled out by local notable Brackyi Lao. Given a second chance, he followed in Sifu Lao's footsteps learning discipline and self-reliance. Crawling up out of the gutters, Al made a life for himself. He had an up and coming fiancee (a goblin witch named Jakeel) and had joined the constables of Edge, but on the eve of his induction, his life took a dreadful turn.
As part of the celebration he got very drunk and returning to the flat of his girl friend, he was deceived by her twin, who had a habit of disrupting her sister's life. When Jakeel discovered them in bed together she cursed Al, essentially unmanning him. While he continued on with the constables, his vice of drinking intensified. While he eventually got the curse removed, it took years and he is still in debt.
