Dwarven religion is based around ancestor worship, and the entities which humans take as Dwarven gods are, in reality, simply the most important ascended ancestors. Dwarves do not worship in the same ways as humans. There is no communal worship, and no large temples. Worship is a personal and private matter, often conducted at small shrines. A small number of humans in the Empire do worship Dwarf gods, principally Grungni, and they worship them in same ways as they do human gods. Dwarves find this all rather strange, and don't get involved.

There are literally thousands of gods worshipped, as every family, clan and hold has their own ancestors to revere. There are three very important gods whose worship is widespread.

Grungni - God of miners and smiths. He was supposedly the first who taught the Dwarves to dig deep into the earth and build their civilisation. He is sometimes worshipped by human artisans, and is particularly popular at the imperial worskshops in Nuln.

Grimnir - The god of war and vengeance, and therefore of key importance to the Slayer Cult.

Valaya - Mother goddess of the Dwarves. Valaya was supposedly responsible for the founding of the most important Dwarf holds.
