Barber and Bath

Proprietor: An ancient Chinese man named Fong

Fong is normally found in a rocking chair on the boardwalk outside his business, sipping tea and chatting with passer-by.  Most of the work is done by a gaggle of young Chinese women although Fong does the barbering and shaving himself. His hot towel shave is legendary, very refreshing. Fong dresses traditionally in a white tunic, always spotless, and black trousers with a long grey queue (braid) down his back. He is very courteous and seems to know everything that is going on, yet never gives the impression of gossiping.

Within the building there are several small rooms containing wooden baths which are filled when required with a stream of buckets of very hot water. Towels are provided in abundance. The establishment also offers laundry services, washing a customer's clothes whilst he washes himself. The giggling gaggle of Chinese women are not generally available for other more personal services, however.
