THE PROMISE CITY COMMUNITY SCHOOLHOUSE

Jenny Campbell, the local schoolmarm, rules this one-story clapboard schoolhouse with an iron hand. The CIVIC ASSOCIATION built the schoolhouse and hired Miss Campbell in an effort to "civilize" the town somewhat so that "decent folks" would move there.  So far, they have been disappointed in this hope. Miss Campbell has 31 students of all ages.
