Goods/Services:

All-weather blanket -- This 3m x 3m blanket has a layer of soft pseudowool on one side, and a layer of smooth waterproof plastic on the other. The blanket will keep a character warm in temperatures down to 0 C (freezing temperature). The blanket can be used to carry water. If the blanket is used to line a pit in the desert, it will collect 1 liter of dew overnight.

Atlas, Road -- this large water-proof book contains scale maps of all the major inhabited areas of a particular region, including detailed road maps of cities. It generally indicates significant features such as parks, museums, and campgrounds. It is not as detailed as a standard map of a specific area. Cost: 25Cr (specify region or continent).

Atlas, World -- this large, heavy, water-proof hardcover book contains scale topographical maps of all major countries and regions of a particular world, including roads, cities, most towns, flags, facts, statistics, graphics, illustrations, photos, satellite photos. While it is all-encompassing for that world, it is not as detailed as a road atlas or a map. Cost: 100Cr (specify world).

Breathing Apparatus (Available F.y. 54) -- Breathing apparatus is used to supplement the oxygen supply in thin atmospheres.  Air is carried in two tanks, each holding sufficient oxygen for 10 hours.  In Human and Yazirian models, the air supply is via a flexible plastic tube to a face mask.  A Vrusk or Dralasite model consists of a strong yet flexible, clear plastic bag.  Dralasite enter the bag and zip themselves in, allowing all their breathing pores to be supplied with oxygen, Vrusk bags cover the abdomen only and have special seals for the legs and upper body.  Defensive suits and screens function normally with breathing apparatus.  Being pressurized, breathing apparatus cannot be used in vacuum. Cost: 250Cr.

Compass -- A compass is used to find direction. A compass can be deceived so it points away from magnetic north by the presence of nearby magnetic rocks, electrical generators or other powerful magnets or large metal deposits. Cost: 10Cr.

Compass, Inertial -- This electronic device is 30cm x 30cm x 10cm with a lid that opens. Once activated, it keeps track of all movement that it endures making it simple to retrace one's steps. I always indicates north (or any other direction you set it to), and it is not affected by magnets and other electrical currents. Cost: 100Cr.

Density Scanner -- This device consists of a bulky backpack connected to a large camera like set of goggles. The user wears the goggles, which show the scene in front of him. The density scanner checks emissions from the electromagnetic spectrum and computes the density of the items observed. It can only give very general readings. The scanner is often used for locating hidden cables and wiring for repairs. The scanner does not really "see through" things. It only gives the density reading of the surfaces of things. The density scanner must be supplied with SEU to operate, and it uses 1 SEU for every 10 minutes of operation. Cost: 200Cr.

Envirokit -- An envirokit contains only three items, but they are very sophisticated pieces of equipment. The entire kit weighs 5 kg, and can be fastened to a belt or placed in a backpack. Cost: 500Cr.
     The envirokit contains:
Bioscanner--This device consists of a network of straps and electrodes connected to a readout gauge. When attached to a plant or animal, living or dead, it can determine what type organism is being examined and whether it is edible or poisonous.
Geoscanner--The geoscanner can break down up to a first-sized sample of rock or soil and analyze it. It will report what minerals the sample contains and whether there are likely to be valuable ore, gas or oil deposits nearby.
Vaporscanner--A vaporscanner is a small device that contains sensitive gas analyzers. It will report on a digital screen what gaseous elements are present, their quantities and whether breathing them is dangerous.

Environmental Suit -- This suit is designed to protect its wearer from the weather and other conditions on habitable planets. It is made of lightweight, quilted cloth. The suit covers the entire body and has a built-in gas mask, goggles, and a small heating/cooling system. This will keep the suit cooled to a comfortable temperature on hot planets and warm on cold planets. The suit also protects against tainted atmospheres, airborne irritants, and dust- and sandstorms. Any field may be used with the suit, and it may be worn under an albedo suit or skeinsuit. It may not be worn under a slipsuit. The environmental suit itself gives no protection from attacks. The suit may be powered from a power pack or powerclip. It uses 1 SEU per day, if the heating/cooling system is used. Cost: 100Cr.

Enviro-Proofing -- This treatment may be given to any article of equipment or vehicle except hover vehicles. Enviro-proofing protects these items from the extremes of heat, cold, dust, submersion, tainted atmospheres, and vacuum. The referee should note that there are no specific rules for equipment failure in the Star Frontiers Expanded Rules. Enviro-proofing is provided to protect equipment in situations in which the referee feels weather may affect the item. It is up to the referee to create other planets and situations where it would be useful. Enviro-proofing may be done when the item is bought or at some later time. Cost: 10% of the cost of the item.

Everflame -- An everflame is a permanent, waterproof, windproof lighter guaranteed to last 20 years. Cost: 5Cr.

Gas Mask -- A gas mask fits over the wearer's face and filters out all hazardous gases as the character breathes. It will not allow a person to breathe underwater or in a vacuum, or anywhere there is not enough oxygen to keep a character alive. Cost: 30Cr.

Holoflare -- This is a small, solid, ball-shaped device. When lit, a flare rockets about 200 meters into the air and hovers there for 10 minutes. The flare illuminates an area 1km across with a dim light. Cost: 5Cr.

Life Jacket -- A life jacket is an inflatable vest that will keep a character afloat for any length of time. It comes folded into a package about the size of a person's fist. Cost: 10Cr.

Toxyrad Gauge -- A Toxy-rad gauge is a special device that is worn on the wrist like a watch. It will alert the wearer to several types of danger. There are three colored lights on the device. If the red light flashes, it means that the sensor has encountered some substance that is poisonous to Humans, Dralasites, Yazirians or Vrusk. A small dial on the face of the gauge indicates the degree of danger to a character. Cost: 20Cr.
