Lantaren (IPA: /lænˈtaːɹən/; full name The Honourable Holy Realm and Blessed Kingdom of Lantaren) is the northernmost kingdom on the continent of Notios. It is situated immediately across the Aphieron from Lokren. In the past hundred years, two wars have been fought between Lantaren and Lokren, over ownership of the Aphieron and sovereignty over Lokren's westernmost provinces, which are claimed by Lantaren. The two nations are currently at peace.

The Lantari

The Lantari people make up most of the population of Lantaren. Like the Ardryn, they are darker-skinned than the eastern-born Lokrenian people. Unlike the Ardryn, they have a civilisation that is similar to that of the Lokrenians. Lantari dress in a wide variety of clothing that includes similar styles to those favoured in Lokren, as well as more traditional garments, such as the pachuu, a colourfully-dyed cotton robe.

Culturally, the Lantari are quite different from the Lokrenians. There are a great many differences, in the areas of food, music, dance, customs, and family life. This divide often makes it hard for Lantari to assimilate into Lokrenian culture when they travel north of the Aphieron, as many do, looking for adventure or opportunity in the frontier lands that many of them believe are rightfully claimed by their kingdom. Lokrenians who travel to Lantaren often have an even harder time, for Lantaren is a poor kingdom compared to Lokren, and the impoverished and downtrodden people are suspicious of strangers - especially Lokrenians, whom they view as being responsible for the shabby state of Lantaren because of the wars.

The Lantari speak their own language, which is written using their own obscure script.
