Angouri Forest (IPA: /ænˈgɔɹiː/) is an elven kingdom in north-eastern Epiros, situated on the Angouri Plateau between Dierminevin (of which it was previously a province) and Anvero. The elves, who many suspect were coaxed and perhaps materially aided by the Anverian government, seceded from Dierminevin just over twenty years ago. The forest had always been autonomous and was a loose vassal at best for the kings of Dierminevin, but declared independence by failing to pay tribute one year and butchering those who came to demand answers. A brief war followed but the elves were easily able to hold the Dierminevinites to their side of the Ntako River, forcing the human kingdom to seek a peace treaty rather than waste time and resources in a war that would likely ruin them even if they were capable of winning it.

If the Anverians had indeed assisted the elves during the conflict, it is possible that they were hoping to persuade the forest kingdom to declare its loyalty to Anvero in exchange for protection against any further Dierminevinite aggression. If that is indeed the case, they were to be disappointed, for the elves declared total independence and refused to have anything further to do with the kingdoms of the humans, threatening any who dared enter their woods with annihilation. The forest is far easier to attack from the Anverian side, but regardless of their intentions, the Anverians never launched any sort of incursion to try to bring the forest under their control.

Angouri Forest remains a fully-independent elven kingdom to this day, though it is no longer as hostile to outsiders, with merchants and visitors welcomed and lucrative trade agreements signed with both of the human kingdoms that border it, chiefly relating to lumber exports to Anvero and imports of precious metals from Dierminevin.
