Moorhaven is a quiet little town in the Atlantic Northeast, with about fifty thousand permanent inhabitants. It's surrounded by lush, well-managed forests and has a thriving community with frequent activities supported equally by the local forestry and heather industries and tourism. The town's old fashioned hostels are a pleasant stop for those travelling by train between cities all along the eastern coast of the United States and Canada, but more importantly the neo-pagan subculture has latched onto the legend of the town's founding (much to the dismay of those with actual power living in Moorhaven), and now all eight Wiccan sabbats are celebrated with festivals that swell the town to three or four times its ordinary population.

The magical subculture of Moorhaven is centred around the Schools of Moorhaven, specifically around the two that board monsters and their respective hunters. These schools largely ignore one another, as there is a long-standing peace between the two communities, even as they live at odds with one another. Small skirmishes, however, are an annual occurrence that largely only registers to the populace as a school rivalry.
