Isabella's early life was rooted in Pinebrook, a peaceful village on the fringe of the Border Forest west of the Dragonspine Mountains. The community thrived on tales of legendary figures, with none more revered than Elarion, a master hunter known for his feats of heroism and a deep bond with the forest. Laid to rest in a sacred grove near the village, his tales inspired future generations.

Tranquility was torn asunder, however, when a novice necromancer, driven by ambition yet lacking true mastery, chose Pinebrook to test his dark arts by unleashing a horde of the undead on the unsuspecting village.  Pinebrook was swiftly overrun, yet amidst the chaos, Isabella felt an otherworldly presence reaching out to her - the spirit of Elarion. He had resisted the necromancer's sway but sought to rise to defend the village one last time.  With a power she didn't know she had, Isabella freed Elarion, who, seeking retribution, confronted the dark mage, driving him away in fear.

The victory was Pyrrhic. Though leaderless, the undead horde had ravaged Pinebrook, leaving Isabella amidst the ruins as the sole survivor. As dawn broke, a Doom Guide of Kelemvor arrived, drawn by the disturbance in the natural order of life and death. Sensing the profound desolation and the potential rise of more restless spirits, he consecrated the area, ensuring the dead would find peace.  Discovering the traumatized Isabella and recognizing the spark of her newly awakened abilities, the Doom Guide saw in her a potential vessel for Kelemvor's will. He introduced her to the god's teachings, offering her a chance to turn her grief into purpose. Gratefully accepting, Isabella embarked on a path of service to Kelemvor, dedicating herself to aiding tormented souls, relieving suffering, and ensuring the balance of life and death remained intact.
