OPENING POST:

Hillsfar, originally a trade city for dwarves and to prevent the drow incursion spreading, this well-defended port city has begun a downward spiral. Is an active hub of trade (both legitimate and illegitimate). A notable feature of Hillsfar is the Arena where gladiator events are held. Adventuring groups are encouraged to participate.

Maalthiir has risen to prominence and instituted a great law lauded by the merchants:
Great Law of Trade: Do not interfere with any legitimate trade. The ruling council has acknowledged Maalthiir as First Lord, granting him absolute power of the military (technically a mercenary group of 5,000 members), the RED PLUMES.

Rumors and uneasy stirrings hint that Maalthiir's extremism and speciesism may lead to running out of the non-humans of the city. So far, these are just the naysayers. Not much else is known about the man, other than those close to him saying he hates non-humans and believes humans are the true leaders in every industry.

Politically, Maalthiir is openly supported by a man by name of Mordak, and the leader of the Red Plumes, General Jorgen Berginblade.

The local thieves' guild is run by the mysterious guild master by the alias of SWIPE.

An honorary member of the council tasked with the mystical defense of the city is Merrick, city magister. Not much is known about the man, with the exception of council meetings and functions where council attendance is expected. Nobody has identified where he resides. Attempts to follow him end in the complete loss of the trail, even by well-trained trackers and bounty hunters.

Tola Vrass is the Thayan ambassador.

Two newly active nobles from House Vassenius, one Gaius Tertius and Cassia Liburnius. Of note, House Vassenius takes the security of Gaius seriously, as a contingent of bodyguards accompanies him, and the ever-present Cassia. It should be noted that House Vassenius was virtually unheard of a year ago, but these strangers with wealth and power showed up and were admitted into the noble circles.

Notable things to do around the city. The commoners and upper crust mingle (though separated by barriers) at the arena to watch the entertaining bouts. Criminals are executed by the arena while thrill-seekers, glory hounds and just seeking fame, also compete (though their matches are not to the death).

Crime is fairly rampant, many homeless children are recruited into street gangs and the thieves' guild. Most merchants are left alone, but the locals and especially outsiders to the city often find their coins missing and sometimes other valuables.

The council puts on events and dinners to mingle with the nobles and influence the city.

We start the story with an event put on for those of influence being invited to a premiere at the Castle. An operatic troupe run by a dashing gentleman by the name of Randolph is putting on a production and has invited a renowned opera singer, Acanthya, to take part in the performance.

The New Lord Commander of the Red Plumes brought in is Sarvik Borsch. He followed up on some interesting leads and spent a great deal of time at the Sterling Succubus. He was successful in closing a portal found in their cellar to the Underdark and the drow assassins that had gained entry through the portal.

A new vigilante revealed herself as Red Deva and gave an ultimatum to the Red Plumes. A halfling was crucified and later that evening died. Rumors circulated that Red Deva caused the death. Meanwhile, Baron Dar Honeth threw a party but the girls he hired all disappeared causing him to be quite mad. (A complaint against the owner of the girls and one Oliver Tegroes is on the run and hiding) The flower girl (Valary) who was married to the man has likewise found another brothel to sleep at...

Day 3:
Explosions, deaths, and mayhem punctuated day 3. Several prisoners escaped a transport, though no criminals have taken credit for the deed.
