Those gentlemen of Paris who wish to learn from a seasoned and experienced officer have the opportunity to attend The Royal Military Academy and learn from the best.
A character may attend the Military Academy as a weekly action and after a number of sessions (not necessarily consecutive) their MA will increase by 1 up to the maximum of the current Commandant. The Commandant will not necessarily be at the academy, but has left instructors in place who look after the lessons themselves. The number of sessions required is equal to the current MA of the student times 2.
Each weekly attendance has a cost equal to 10 times the next MA the character would achieve (So, Bob has MA 5 and wants to get MA 6. He spends 10 weeks at the academy and spends 60 livres per week to reach his goal).
The Commandant appointment is one that players can attain and has exactly the same requirements and benefits as the Royal Governor of Paris (see Military appointments), though does not appoint any other role and the Lt-General rank is a minimum requirement only. It will also be up for renewal at the same time as per the yearly calendar. When applying for the role, the Military Ability Modifier table will be used. The Commandant has no say in who attends the academy or otherwise, he is merely the figurehead and sets the lesson plan.
If there is no Commandant then no training can take place that month, however any player may host a week long training seminar. Such a seminar is held at the Academy as a weekly action. The host gets 1 SP per 20 SLs of attendees and attendees gain the usual amount of MA from attending to a maximum of the host's MA. Costs must still be paid for the running of the course, the host receiving 50% of the total fees. Only one such course can be run in any one week. If multiple hosts attempt to run a course, then the host with the highest rank gets priority. If of the same rank, then the highest SL. If the same SL, then the highest MA. If still a tie, then neither course is run.
Whilst at school, regimental and provincial enmity does not apply, this is a place of learning, not for drinking and fighting!
