13 DISGRACE

There are three ways to become disgraced:
  1. a player receives a battle result of 5 or 6 when putting down unrest as Provincial Military Governor;
  2. a player is unable to pay his debts when they are due; or
  3. a player fights a duel with a member of the same Regiment.

A character who is disgraced must join a Frontier Regiment until:
  1. he becomes a hero (Mentioned in Despatches), if he failed to put down unrest;
  2. he is able to pay his debts, if unable to do so earlier; or
  3. for one full year from the time of the duel.

Characters at the front in disgrace receive no title attempts.

If a characters that holds a rank or appointment is disgraced he may be sacked by the person who commands him or appointed him as appropriate if he deems that the reason for disgrace is incompatible with his appointment. NPCs will do this on 4+ (influence may be used). If the sacked person feels that he has been wronged by another character, he may issue a challenge to duel. The duel is fought on his return from disgrace. The GM will determine if he has cause.
