KIMON FIELDS

One of the first settlements built on Proxima Centauri in 2013, the town was but three farms and their respective protective domes by then: the Sonoda rice farm, the Chen farm, and the Tereshkova Ranch.

During the many terms of the Workers Party, the government tried to expropriate the land owners, ending in more than one gunfight, but the stubborn settlers never gave up an inch and soon expanded, enlisting the aid of zentraedi farm-hands for field work and construction.

This rebellion gave birth to the Green Movement.

Frances Golv, the current Prime Minister of Proxima, worked as a veterinarian for the small community in the 2030's.

With the terraforming effort gaining traction and finally becoming a reality, Kimon Fields prospered but its population carefully kept control over the surrounding lands, admitting few new settlers.

The spirit of a pioneer town is inscribed into Kimon Fields DNA, founded by people who would not stay with the flock ; yet in a way, the town will always remain in its own little protective bubble.

SONODA RICE FARM:

The best rice of Proxima and probably the entire galaxy! The Sonoda were a minor yakuza family, fiercely traditionalists ; they chose to build their home away from the turmoil of the big cities and industry, although they did keep their business there. The Sonoda Clan rules over prostitution and gambling on Proxima, it also indulges in smuggling but the sector is very competitive.

To speak of their "ancestral" home, the Sonoda farm has become a splendid japanese manor over the years ; with all the trimmings ranging from the zen garden to the pond... The agricultural activites are run from modern facilities surrounding town. Most of the workforce is Zentraedi, with japanese overseers, or second generation hybrids who were brought into the family.

The heir to the family name, Mariya, is a former pop glory of the 20's who is now running the sake and whisky distillery ; the business makes amazing money with luxury products sought galaxy-wide.

CHEN FARM(S):

The Chen farms do everything: vegetables, fruits and even fish! If the activity around Kimon Fields is still limited, Dong Chen and his wife Rachel built an agro-alimentary empire on Proxima. They pushed for the creation of the Green Movement and bankrolled it, gaining licenses and exploitation rights over the terraformed zone in the process. Their latest stunt was an exclusive deal with the Nyan-Nyan franchise of restaurants.

Very little people in Kimon Field do not work for or with the Chen enterprises in some capacity, the Chen are a fixture of the town life and generously sponsor every event. Despite their immense finacial success, they remain down-to earth people who keep their door open to all the townsfolk.

The recent passing of the patriarch Dong Chen was a local tragedy, and even Proxima's prime minister attended the service.

TERESHKOVA RANCH:

Founded by Illyana Tereshkova, the Ranch is in the business of breeding horses, cattle and chickens ; its still a small business, operated by its founder and manned by a rowdy bunch of former soldiers and ex-cons ; no hard working soul was ever turned down by old Illyana. During the early years of Kimon Fields, many a battle took place around the ranch, and the defensive positions still exist to this day... For if anything, old woman Tereshkova does not believe in everlasting happiness, something she learnt the hard way during her years as a UN Spacy officer. Even the Sonoda clan's arsenal pales in comparison to the Tereshkova armory.

Many wonder, as the ranch founder goes into her twilight years, who will take up her mantle... Since her children are as weird and hard-headed as BOTH their parents.

THE GOLDEN STORK:

This is the Sonoda-owned distillery and bar, they have small range of products including sake, whisky and vodka. Being the one and only bar in Kimon Fields, the Golden Stork rarely knows slow nights ; the interior is a cosy reminder of the early Proxima cabarets, with a little more air to breathe.
There is a piano and sometimes bands come for a gig, but the owner has high expectations and does not allow just anybody to sing at the Stork.
