Welcome to the litteral ass-end of the core systems ; Bernard's Star is better known as: the UN Planetary Fragments Disposal Facility. Yes, in a universe where man tangles with Fold drives and particle beam weapons, the worst is more common than it seems. Dangerous asteroïds are routinely derouted toward Bernard's Star, where they are broken down and mined for all their worth.
This is an unfriendly place, all business an no play ; outside of the occasional alcohol, drugs and prositution that follow every mining operation.
There is a small UN Spacy detachement in the area, regarded as the worst disciplinary assignment in the fleets.
