ASTROGRAPHY:
The planet Avemaria is located in the Beta Leonis star system, some 36 light years away from Earth. It's a small planet, very distant from its star ; despite the best efforts of its settlers, the planet's atmosphere is defficient in water vapor, leading to rather hot and dry conditions outside of the winter season.
HISTORY:
Avemaria was colonized by the fifth short range colonization fleet (mostly north and south american nationals) in 2015, with great setbacks in the terraformation process, the local population received help from the UN Air Force. In exchange for land grants to build its most important facilty to date: New Nellis Aerospace Force Base, the administration assisted with its heavy transports in bringing in Ice and participating to aerial operation of weather control.
The base construction brought good business to Avemaria ; and once complete (circa 2021), a large number of military families moved in, revitalizing the colony with that second wave.
Nowadays, Avemaria is a premiere tourist destination for its endless ranges to ride, rich architecture, endearing and vibrant culture.
