Anomaly Designation: D1801

Classification:
Euclid Safe

Overview: D1801 (Daucus carota subsp. sativus) is 25cm long and 66 grams, and resembles a North American carrot sans a small tumorous growth near its base. This tumor seems to have mammalian neural tissue in it, and DNA comparison testing yields that this carrot is partially chimeric, containing DNA from both Daucus carota and Homo sapiens.

Recovery Location: Annita Valley Farmer's Market, Annita Valley, TX

Recovery Notes: The carrot came to the attention of the JCP when a local farmer stepped on it, exposing the brain tissue. It made the Annita Valley Gazette, a local paper, which had been under review for an unrelated reason. A recovery team was sent in and purchased it on 9/27/2017 for $14 and an iTunes gift-card nearing expiration.

Threat Assessment:
It has not proven capable of any form of communication, but an MRI test shows that it responds to expressions of anger or displays of destruction with a release of norepinephrine, suggesting it may understand its environment despite not containing visible sensory organs.

Currently D1801 is contained in Area 04 of the JCP Greenhouse at Site ██████.

Containment:
D1801 is currently designated Safe. It is to be given adequate water, daily exposure to at least 8 hours of sunlight, and is to be kept away from any other Daucus carota that may be at the facilities. Additional containment precautions are unnecessary as D1801 cannot reproduce on its own, has shown no symptoms of being adversarial, and has largely cooperated with researchers.

Comments:

  1. Cooperated with researchers? Its a carrot. It can't not cooperate. -A089
  2. Sentient life is sentient life. It needs to be treated humanely. Just because it cannot communicate doesn't mean it does not have a right to exist. -DrG
